3D milling control works on the principle of using 3D design models and GPS receivers, or robotic total station to control milling depth in accordance to the 3D design model.

Differential milling control is the most advanced 3D milling technique, which does not require any surveying crew or any specialist to assist the system. It uses horizontal position data from GPS to set correct milling depth in mm from a pre-calculated database of differences between the digital terrain model of the road before resurfacing and 3D design model. The milling machine knows the correct milling depth in any road location from the data of GPS horizontal position. This enables flexible planning of the work area.

Exact Street 3D Differential Milling Unit guarantee an mm accuracy milling operation based on the 3D digital design. It uses horizontal position data from GPS to set the correct milling depth in mm from pre-calculated database of differences between digital terrain model of the road before resurfacing and 3D digital design model.
Exact Street Differential Milling Unit system utilizes two GPS receivers to guarantee the best possible horizontal accuracy. Advanced algorithms combine data from these two GPS, data from digital models and data from the milling machine to calculate the correct milling depth and provide on-line evaluation of milling quality.

Exact Street differential milling unit is the most advanced 3D milling system , which does not require experts for assistance in operation (no surveying crew or any specialist to assist the system). No total station or other surveying equipment is required(or need to be set up). All system is controlled through regular milling machine control panel (Wirtgen Level Pro), meaning that not additional training of the milling crew is necessary.
